Going on Vacation
A PSA & some songs
We're going on vacation for the next 10 days. Heading to Arizona for a wedding as well as some outdoor exploring + visiting good pals. But I am a responsible newsletter author and didn't want to leave the world hanging while I'm out. I know everyone would have been freaking out if the posts didn't come. A real fiasco. Cops might have even gotten involved.
I'll probably be basking under the hot ass southwestern sun by the time you read this as I'm gonna be on a plane in about 3 hours. We packed up everything today pretty much lol. Well technically yesterday for you. You know how it goes. Anyway. You're gonna get this issue and then one other is scheduled for next week while I'm gone.
Keeping things short today since I was busy this week so here are four cool songs for you to check out.
"Zoom 97" - Kurt Vile
"Zoom 97" is the opener for Kurt Vile's next album, Philadelphia's been good to me, out May 29th. I love this one. Super mellow and a bit hypnotic with the guitars and vocal effects.
"Haveluck Country" - Cola
Really been liking the new Cola singles this year. "Haveluck Country" was the final release before their new album Cost Of Living Adjustment came out today. I'll probably throw that on for a listen while we're on the road or flying back. "Haveluck Country" is a pretty laidback tune but it still has a bit of kick in it as the boys of Montreal are known to do.
"Nightjar" - Turnover
a ladybug flew in my eye
it hurt like hell but I didn't cry
I was pretty drawn to this song and video. They're getting out of the city and heading to the countryside. I'll be getting out of my small city and heading to the desert. So kind of the same vibe once we get rolling in the rental car. This one is also pretty laidback and sets a real chill mood. I am sensing an unintended theme going on here. Turnover announced their new album on Thursday with this single and another (which I'll post below too because why not). Down On Earth is out May 29 and marks the Virginia band's first independent release. Hell yeah. Check out the second single, "I see You And Realize" below.
